Renew Marriage Vows – Yes or No
During the week the question regarding would I like to renew my wedding vows popped into my head?
When I got married over 21 years ago I thought that would a one-time ceremony (assuming I would stay married to the same lovely person I married). I had never considered to idea of renewing my wedding vows. Why would I? It was a pretty nervous day for us all. I wasn’t nervous about getting married it was all the other stuff that goes with the wedding day – would I remember my vows – the weather – the reception – the list goes on and on…
I’ve actually been thinking that it may make more sense to celebrate my marriage by taking the time to renew my wedding vows. I know I’d be a lot more relaxed renewing my vows than I was the first time round. For one thing I believe I’d be a lot more relaxed about the ceremony, I’m lot older than I was on my wedding day and with age comes experience (I know I’d be able to relax and enjoy the occasion). I’d also be in a better position to create meaningful vows, due to the experiences I’ve shared with my wife. We would invite close friends that we wanted to share the occasion with us and not just invite the relatives we thought we had to invite, due to family pressure.
Imagine being able to have a ceremony that declares your love for your partner and to be able to share it with close family and friends in a location that is meaningful for you and your partner. So if the question pops into head – ‘Renew Marriage Vows – Yes or No’ and the answer ‘No’ seems to be the choice, what would it take to change your mind? This is where I might be able to help, as a Civil Marriage Celebrant I’d love to help you create a re-commitment ceremony that really shows the love you have for your partner.
